The Bryan Adams Foundation: Giving the Gift of Learning

Following the devastating tsunami that struck Southeast Asia in early 2004, Bryan Adams created a charity called the Bryan Adams Foundation in 2006. It is now funded primarily through Bryan Adams’ photography. When it first launched, the Foundation auctioned off one of Adams’ personal guitars in order to start acquiring the necessary funds. Adams had some of his idols, such as Eric Clapton, sign the guitar. The proceeds from the auction provided the Foundation the funding it needed to get started.

The goal of the foundation is to help others by supporting the charities that help improve the human condition. The Foundation specializes in aiding educational efforts worldwide as Adams believes that a good education is one of the best gifts a child can receive. The Bryan Adams Foundation has also assisted charities that aid the elderly as well as victims of natural disasters, wars, and individuals suffering from mental and physical illnesses. The Foundation provides grants and funding to existing and proposed charities and projects in order to help people by aiding the people who are seeking to aid groups of people rather than just give money to individuals, thus explaining the Foundation’s motto of “helping people help people.”
